There are certain postcode areas which, although they technically fall within larger catchment areas, are situated in impractical locations that may be difficult to reach or add unnecessary time to the journey prior to collection.
Within the LimoPlanner Manager is the Postcode Subsidy area which allows you to specify an unlimited number of postcodes along with their own specific subsidies. For example, a postcode of PA45 may appear to be within the main Renfrewshire area but it is, in fact, on the Isle of Islay. This makes this particular area difficult to reach and cost prohibitive to operate within. If, however, the limo company is actually prepared to make the additional journey across the water then they would want to be compensated for the additional considerations - this is where the postcode subsidy comes into play.
A postcode subsidy of £150 for PA45 would mean that customers within that area could still book the limo for their own purposes, but their booking would be subject to an additional cost of £150 which would be shown on their booking as a "postcode subsidy".
For any booking which have more than one postcode subsidy (eg a subsidy for the pickup postcode and a subsidy for the destination postcode) then the limo company admin have the ability to set the LimoPlanner software to either charge both subsidies, as well as either the lowest or the highest of the two subsidies. There is an additional option to charge an average subsidy in these cases, for example.. to charge £120 in total for a booking which has a £150 pickup subsidy and a £90 destination subsidy.
